How do I simulate realistic users (not just RPS) in JMeter?

Marketing says "10k users." Ops says "50 RPS." What thread group + timers combo actually models that?

Users != RPS. Use Stepping Thread Group (or Ultimate Thread Group plugin) to ramp real concurrent users, plus Throughput Shaping Timer if you also need to pin RPS. Add Gaussian Random Timer between requests to model think time — otherwise you generate a bot storm, not users.
